Individualized Care. Revolutionary Treatment. Unprecedented Results.

American Treatment Network is an outpatient Mental Health Treatment Center headquartered in Havertown, Pennsylvania. At American Treatment Network, our goal is to bridge the gap in service delivery with behavioral health and addiction treatment. The majority of patients undergoing substance abuse treatment are experiencing the results of a co-occurring disorder or dual diagnosis.

Co-occurring disorders exist when a patient has mental health disorder(s) and substance addiction simultaneously. Our team is pioneering the treatment philosophy that aims to address both mental health and substance abuse and as a result we are revolutionizing substance abuse recovery results.

The American Treatment Network

Our whole-person, integrated treatment program focuses on a strengths-based perspective that tackles behavioral health, substance abuse disorder and physical health throughout the treatment and aftercare program. Each person is unique when it comes to their experience with substance abuse/addiction and mental illness.

  • Some experience mental health issues during childhood or adolescence and experiment with drugs and alcohol soon after, causing them to develop both an addiction problem and a serious mental illness.

  • Others experience a mental health issue that develops in early adulthood or perhaps develops out of an injury or trauma later in life and they utilize drugs and alcohol in an effort to “self-medicate”.

  • Many may develop an addiction problem that grows so severe that it causes mental health issues or triggers the onset of symptoms that may otherwise have never surfaced.

  • A myriad of overlapping factors can aggravate a mental health or substance use disorder. Brain responses, genetics, triggers in the environment or exposure at an early age to name a few.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

People treated with CBT techniques learn to recognize and change their maladaptive behaviors. CBT can help people with coping skills, with identifying risky situations and what to do about them, and preventing relapse.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

DBT works to reduce cravings, help patients avoid situations or opportunities to relapse, assist in giving up actions that reinforce substance use, and learn healthy coping skills. DBT embraces a supportive approach that helps clients identify their strengths and then approaches the need to change certain aspects of their attitudes and behaviors, and to accept other aspects of the world based on their personal strengths.

Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT)

REBT helps patients understand their own thoughts and then helps them to develop better habits and to think in more positive and rational ways and gain healthier emotions. The concept of REBT is that irrational thinking comes from within; external situations are not what creates a person’s emotional state.

Our Pledge

We believe that there are no mental health disorders that cannot be positively impacted through our programs. Here are some of the most common co-occurring disorders we treat:

  • Depression
  • Schizophrenia
  • Bipolar Disorder
  • Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
  • Personality Disorders
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
  • Eating Disorders
  • Borderline Personality Disorder

When co-occurring disorders are present, the individual has a dual diagnosis which our clinic team specializes in. These individuals with dual diagnosis require an integrated treatment plan that addresses both disorders as interconnected mental health issues.

Once the patient has completed the program successfully, we establish their membership in our Recovery Transition Plan. This aftercare program begins immediately after the treatment is completed. Every patient receives personalized Continuing Care planning in order to maximize their abilities to continue a life of sobriety, peace, and sustained recovery.
